The FOB import price

Once you have agreed a price with the seller you need to know what it will cost to have the goods imported into the UK (or to whichever country you want the goods shipping to).

The price offered to you by the seller will be an FOB port price (FOB stands for Free On Board vessel or aircraft). FOB terms means that the seller will arrange for the freight to be delivered to the nearest port at which time we will take possession of the goods on your behalf.

Obtaining a quote for the import service

Obtaining a quote from Pinnacle for the importing of goods is easy, just follow the procedure below to collect all the information required for a quote to be issued by Pinnacle...

Basic information we require

• 1. Weight of the shipment
• 2. The dimensions of the shipment
• 3. Value of the shipment
• 4. Description of the goods
• 5. How are they packed ? i.e pallets or loose cartons
• 6. Name of the nearest port to the sellers factory
• 7. Destination Delivery address in UK (or whichever country the goods are being shipped to)

The freight quotation we send to you will be from FOB port of origin to the point of delivery shown in the quotation.

In the quotation we will include all charges such as import duties and VAT so you will know the price quoted by Pinnacle covers you from the port at origin to delivered destination. The only charges we cannot include are unforeseen charges such as customs examinations etc.

What Happens Next?

1. We will contact you with a quote for the delivery of the goods to your doorstep.

2. If you are happy with our freight quotation and the agreed price for the goods, proceed and place the order with the seller.

3. Send us the sellers details, our overseas office located in the area of the seller will make contact and inform the seller that once the goods are ready they are to contact our office to make arrangements for export.

4. At this time we will contact you and inform you of the date the goods will be ready along with the sailing date, arrival date and expected delivery date to the destination given in your quotation.

5. When the goods arrive into the UK port (or whichever port of destination nearest to the delivery point) we will ask you to pay our invoice (obviously this will be the freight charges quoted to you). Once the funds have been received we will arrange delivery
